THE ROUTE

The route crosses two impressive viaducts at Knucklas and at Cynghordy and goes through six tunnels, including one on the magnificent run up to Sugar Loaf. Over 30 stations are served by the line, some of which are request stops.

From October 2018 services along the Heart of Wales Line will be operated by Keolis/Amey working on behalf of Transport for Wales. We have been promised a much improved service by 2022, which is very exciting for rural communities, and for all those who have been campaigning for these improvements.

DAYTRIPS

For a half day trip from Swansea or Llanelli why not head for the community run cafe at Llandovery station? Pop in for tea, coffee, and a slice of home-made cake. Joan’s Special Afternoon Tea for groups is a really wonderful spread – please pre book on 01550 731283.

TRAIL

The Heart of Wales Line Trail is a long distance walk that weaves between stations along the line. It’s already open across Shropshire, much of Carmarthenshire and the City of Swansea. More information at https://www.heart-of-wales.co.uk/experiences
