Blue Flag beach, this is a fantastic hotel.  Just seven miles from the centre of Swansea itself, the hotel offers superb views across Swansea Bay to the Gower Peninsula. The Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel is also close to Port Talbot and Neath - giving guests ample opportunity to get out and about in this lovely part of Wales.

The Dylan Thomas Story - Itinerary…

Stay at the Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel – a fully accessible beach front hotel – Price Includes Full Breakfast & Evening Meal
 
Day 1 – Arrive at your accommodation
 
Day 2 – After a restful night, and a fabulous breakfast, you will be joined by our guide.  You will visit the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea, followed by a coach tour through the Uplands and Mumbles – favorite haunts of Dylan Thomas.  In the afternoon we will stop in Mumbles, where you can visit ‘Watering Holes’ (Pubs) that were favoured by Dylan Thomas… or you can simply enjoy Mumbles and do a little shopping.  (It is expected the group will want to wander and do their own lunch, however, a group lunch can be arranged at an additional cost)
 
Day 3 – Again our guide will join you and take you on a scenic tour of Gower.  A lifelong friend of Dylan Thomas, Vernon Watkins, who was brought up on Gower, is buried in the Pennard Parish Church – we will stop at Pennard Parish Church. Depending on the size of the group we will visit Pennard Stores / The Cliffs Restaurant in Southgate, Gower – where we will stop for lunch – and learn more about Vernon Watkins with a short talk over lunch.  (As an alternative location for lunch, we will visit the Gower Heritage Centre).  We will head to Rhossilli talking about Dylan’s trips into Gower and his escapades in Rhosilli, stopping at Rhossilli for the spectacular views and a short walk.  On the return journey we will stop for afternoon tea at the Gower Heritage Centre.  Returning to the Hotel for the evening meal. 
 
Day 4 – A visit to Laugharne to do the Dylan Thomas walking trail, see the Boat House, Grave, Browns Hotel. 
 
Day 5 - After breakfast leave to return home.

Scenic Tours of The Gower Peninsula and Swansea Bay – Itinerary…

Day 1 – Arrive at your accommodation
 
Day 2 - After a leisurely breakfast, a tour guide will join you at your hotel.  The first stop of the day will be at the award winning attraction - Aberdulais Tin Works and Waterfall – where you can explore the history and heritage of the Aberdulais Tin Works - the attraction boasts an impressive waterfall that is quite accessible to view.  At the end of the morning we will have a light lunch at the attraction.  After lunch we travel to Brecon to explore this traditional Welsh town with a range of shops and restaurants. The afternoon concludes with the scenic journey returning to your hotel. 
 
Day 3 - Tour of Swansea Bay and Gower Peninsula - A tour guide will provide commentary on your journey from your hotel into the City of Swansea.  A scenic drive into Gower stopping at the Gower Heritage Centre for refreshments and a tour of this attraction.  Scenic tour of Gower continues with a visit to Rhossilli Bay and then returns to Gower Heritage Centre for an afternoon cream tea.  Returning to Aberavon via a tour of Mumbles and Swansea Bay. 
 
Day 4 – A visit to the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, in morning, followed by a visit to the gardens of  Swansea in the afternoon – such as Clyne Gardens and Swansea Botanical Gardens (Depending on the time of year) –  lunch will be in Mumbles. 
 
Day 5 - After breakfast, leave to return home.

From our tourism hub - based in Parkmill, Gower - Tourism Swansea Bay work in partnership with our members to deliver a comprehensive range of - Walking, Talking, Guided Tours - of Swansea Bay.  

The tours can be all-inclusive... such as – Guided Walks / Talks / Food / Transport - and can include entry into an attraction or include an activity.  We can also help you arrange suitable accommodation for your visit to Swansea Bay.  

We have a range of standard guided walks & talks that are suitable for groups of all ages, abilities and group sizes - large or small.  However, if you would like something a little different, we are happy to advise you and create bespoke guided walks & talks to suit you and your budget... we can also arrange guides for the individual visitor to our area.
