Create a beautiful hand bound notebook in tribute to the words of Dylan Thomas
25th October, 7th and 9th November 7.00pm to 9.00pm
This 3 night workshop combines felting with hand embroidery to create a beautiful hand bound notebook in tribute to the words of Dylan Thomas. Dylan’s birthday is on October 27th, what better way to celebrate than to become inspired to put pen to paper in your own beautifully handcrafted refillable notebook?
During the first evening Rachel and Tasha from Ffibrau y Gwyr will teach you to use hand dyed fibre to make a piece of felt in colours you find reminiscent of your favourite Dylan Thomas piece, whether that be his famous play for voices, or a story, or a poem. We will have his books and papers on hand to inspire you.
The second evening will see you hand embroider an excerpt from your favourite Dylan story or poem onto your handmade felt at the very place where Dylan was born and wrote two thirds of his published work - the Dylan Thomas Birthplace. Taking inspiration from the walls around you, you will turn your embroidered felt into a re fillable notebook. Will you be inspired by the workshop and Dylan’s words to use this notebook to records your own writing or poetry? Or will this be a special Chrismas present for someone?
WHEN & WHERE? Thursday 25th October, Wednesday 7th November and Friday 9th November, 7pm to 9pm. The first and last evenings will take place in Clyne Farm Centre’s 400 year old stone corn barn, with the second at the Dylan Thomas Birthplace.
HOW TO BOOK? Tickets for the full workshop (you must attend all 3 evenings) are £51.50 per person plus £8.50 to pay to Ffibrau Y Gwyr on the first evening for materials. Teas, coffees, cakes/biscuits will be available throughout the sessions.
