Gower Ambassadors

Gower Ambassadors

Commencing in June 2017 the Pilot Project was initiated by the Gower Landscape Partnership with funding through the Rural Development Programme and Heritage Lottery Fund. The project aimed to engage people with a passion for Gower - local community volunteers, tourism business personnel, employees in the public and voluntary sectors - in a coordinated training programme to build their skills and knowledge of the distinctive landscape and rich heritage that Gower can offer tourists, and the desire to ensure that visitors were more aware of the ways in which they might enjoy their visit to this special place in a more sustainable way.

Ambassador activities

Gower Ambassadors at the Gower Show – August 2017

Gower Ambassadors continue to network with each other, undertake familiarisatioin visits to local attractions and help out at events such as the Gower Walking Festival and Gower Show. Gower Ambassadors are also making links with other Community Tourism Ambassador schemes - acting to signpost visitors on to other attractions across the South Wales Valleys area and helping to promote Gower in the process. Take a look at our Gower Ambassadors film – made by the Ambassadors themselves!

From Summer 2018 Tourism Swansea Bay will be heavily involved with the Gower Ambassadors project and look forward to continuing the fantastic work that has already been carried out.
