Promoting Sustainable Travel in Rural Swansea (and beyond) - Get Involved

Friday, September 28, 2018

Tourism Swansea Bay has partnered with BayTrans to deliver a step change in information and community involvement in the development of sustainable transport in rural Swansea. The project is part funded by the Swansea Rural Development Partnership and will bring renewed focus on the merits of public transport, cycling and walking for visitors to rural Swansea.

The project involves a complete overhaul of the www.swanseabaywithoutacar.com website to include images, rural walking routes and sustainable transport options for rural Swansea.

The website will also include information on how to get to and around rural Swansea and will include information on getting to popular tourism businesses / attractions / destinations by sustainable means (bus / foot / cycle). We want to highlight any offers that tourism, leisure & hospitality businesses would like to provide for bus users, rail users, cyclists or walkers. For example some businesses offer guests a small discount if they show their bus ticket on entry.

We want to highlight tourism, leisure & hospitality businesses that are on bus routes, near train stations, or walking / cycling routes so this is an opportunity for some free promotion via the site.

We will also be providing information for people who want to stay in Swansea Bay but explore South West Wales and beyond via public transport.

Information we need from you

If you have not done so already please then tell us:

  • Do you support any sustainable transport initiatives?
  • Is your business on or near a train, bus, cycling or walking route?
  • Do you offer any discounts or offers for bus / train ticket holders, cyclists, walkers? (if not would you be open to doing so?)
  • Do you provide electric charging points for hybrid/electric cars?
  • Are you walker/cyclist friendly? (e.g do you provide bike storage / wash facilities etc)
  • Any other information you think would be relevant
